Atlanta Breakfast Club. Duh!

Atlanta Breakfast Club prides itself on great food and good company! Their prime location, fantastic staff, and dedication to food makes this a top Atlanta breakfast spot. Let’s get into it:

  • Atlanta Breakfast Club makes sure you can feel the soul and culture throughout their restaurant. As soon as you arrive, you will see it busy and trying to find where you are going to wait for your table. Might not want to show up starving because your hungry ass might have to wait! You can also order online like I did, so I can grab my food and dip without having to wait for the brunch babes to finish their meal. The menu has lots of delicious sounding items such as peach cobbler french toast, fried chicken and waffles, and breakfast tacos
  • I ordered the fried chicken and waffles, because how could you not? I love the combination of chicken and waffles, even though it comes with this itis. The waffles were fluffy with a slight crisp. The chicken looked, smelled, and tasted so good that it could have been my Valentine. The seasoning was excellent, but I still throw some syrup on everything. I know for a fact multiple items on the menu would have been great! After that heavy breakfast, I had to walk down the street and get some energy back..

Tom, Dick, and Hanks is the Place

Tom, Dick, and Hanks is also known as Happy Hour Hanks for their fantastic deals and drinks. Goodie Mob helped inspire the name, and the culture inspired his flavorful style of cooking. Let’s get into it:

  • Tom, Dick, and Hanks is an experience, because it was started after Hank was promoting nightclubs and exposed to short order cooking. Could you imagine you leaving the club at 2am while off a few shots, and your friend is like “hey.. I have some dry rub wings and a fried fish sandwich for you”. You would probably drunk cry, because someone cares about you. This restaurant is located near downtown, so the rooftop patio is a perfect vibe for food and drinks. You will find menu items such as BBQ chips, brisket sandwich, crab legs, and more. Either way, you’ll leave this place a little messy from barbecue sauce or crab leg juices on you LOL.
  • I treated myself to the dry rub wings and BBQ chips with chicken. I must admit.. I had no clue what these BBQ chips were going to look like when they arrived. I expected some type of nachos, but these were insane! A pound of juicy pulled chicken layered on top of queso dip, jalapeños, and housemade BBQ chips. It had an abundance of flavor. It was like every bite a new component stood out as the favorite. I need to run these backs and explore other proteins, because this was good! Also, I ordered the dry rub wings (with ranch of course). They were smart for not saying what’s in the house rub, because it was exquisite and yummy. I bodied those wings before I could process them. When I noticed they were only $5 for happy hour, I looked at the waitress like..

Highland Bakery, High Quality

Highland Bakery and Kitchen has evolved from serving coffee to muffins to brunch. Highland’s Bakery is your one-stop shop for your morning craziness! Let’s get into it:

  • If there is one thing I can teach you today, it is that you will not go wrong by going to a black owned bakery/coffee shop. Highland Bakery has this vibe about them that is very welcoming. The funky colors walls and fresh plants make this place one to fall in love with. Also, their menu is awesome! You will not only find baked good, but also brunch foods! No shade, but we are all tired of the chain coffee shops’ sandwiches. Highland Bakery will offer you their blueberry crumb cake, cilantro corn pancakes, ultimate fried chicken sandwich, or a three-egg omelette! You have to be drunk to not want to try that LOL.
  • I ordered the ultimate fried chicken sandwich, blueberry crumb cake, and strawberry crossaint. To begin with the sandwich, I fell in love with jalapeño bread and fried white meat chicken! Every bite provided more joy! The blueberry cake was sweet, and the fresh blueberries changed the games. The blueberries made my day. So gooood! The strawberry croissant was tasty! I did not expect the strawberries to mix so well with the croissant. The fresh bread won my heart! Don’t ask for a piece, because this is how i’ll share…

Plant-Based Pizzeria Please!!

Plant Based Pizzeria is Atlanta’s first all vegan pizza joint, and they are black owned! I was craving pizza and felt like going vegan for the day. Let’s get into it:

  • I walked in and knew I wanted pizza, butttt their menu has lots of good sounding options such as vegan meat lovers pizza, Georgia peach flatbread, and a spicy chicken sandwich. I wanted to get creative, so I decided on ordering their Philly pizza with beyond sausage, red onions, mushrooms, and bell peppers. I had to freak it, so I added jalepños onto that. My second option was for sure to try their Georgia peach flatbread that includes spicy beyond sausage, roasted peaches, red onions, and jalepños. I didn’t know what I signed up for, but I was excited!
  • First bite into the pizza, you would have thought I found gold. Not to sound cheesy, but I was cheesing the rest of the way as I bodied the whole pizza. The beyond sausage was seasoned and really reminded me of your Uncle Tony’s Italian sausage. The vegetables could not have been fresher! Even though most vegan cheese does not melt, Plant Based Pizzeria was able to find a solution to that. The cheese was holding everything together which made for a perfect bite. When I realized I had I no more slices in the box…

Virgil’s Gullah is the vibe!

Virgil’s Gullah Kitchen & Bar carries on the heritage of the Gullah Geechee people with their cuisine and crafts. Virgil’s was created to provide amazing service, an abundance of love, and great grub of course! Let’s get into it:

  • At typical soul food spots, you will find fried fish, mac & cheese, and greens. But at Virgil’s you’re also going to find menu items like the watermelon & cucumber salad, salmon n’ rice, and fried pork chop & eggs. That’s right. You can get a perfectly battered fried porkchop with your eggs for brunch. That sounds better than hearing that Georgia will reopen businesses while coronavirus is still active..BUT that’s for another day. I could eat everything on this menu even the vegan options!
  • I tried several things! Even though it was a ton of fried food, I had a BLAST chowing down. The fried porkchop was better than taking your bra off after a long day. It didn’t make sense how they fried the chop so perfectly. The fish was huge but light. It was a classic item that satisfied me. The Jam up wingz were fire! They were half fried and half baked and drizzled with their special sauce. I could eat those once a day like they were a vitamin. The sides were so good. I have had TONS of mac & cheese over the years, but they won my heart with this. It was heavenly. From the cheese to the macaroni itself, I loved every bite. The fried cabbage and corn were new for me, but I will happily have them again. The corn was smothered with peppers, onions, and seasoning. Couldn’t get enough of it. When I thought the main dishes were stealing the show, the sides showed up to join the celebration like..

Sublime is not Subpar!

Sublime doughnuts presents flavors and textures from around the world on a doughnut canvas. I approve of them taking giving their doughnuts a twist! Let’s get into it:

  • This menu presented some of the most delicious options I have heard, but I landed on 6 doughnuts that seemed to fit my appetite! I bought the butterfinger, Oreo, Reese’s cup, caramel apple strudel, caramel & walnut sticky bun, and strawberry and creme donut! No need to worry, I will eat these slowly. One bite at a time.
  • The dough of the donuts was out of this world. Freshly baked and cakey! It way different than your average Dunkin Donuts. My favorites were the Reese’s cup and caramel & walnut sticky bun. The decadent chocolate and creamy peanut butter pair together like a match made in heaven. If your grandma made her famous pound cake, I would still eat this donut. The sticky bun stood out to me, because of the unique flavor combination. To mix cinnamon, caramel, and walnuts together sounds unappealing to me. The crunch from the walnuts is really what took me by surprise, because the caramel was obviously tasty. After your first bite, you’ll be coming back like a crackhead. That’s it for me tonight folks..
